Why PDF Accessibility Can’t Wait in 2026

PDF accessibility stopped being optional. The EU’s European Accessibility Act, in force since June 28, 2025, applies directly to customer-facing PDFs; the US ADA Title II rule gives state and local governments until April 24, 2027 to bring digital documents up to WCAG 2.1 AA. Every PDF now needs a real accessibility check, and doing that by hand doesn’t scale. That’s the gap this app closes.

What Does PDFix Make Accessible Do?

PDFix Make Accessible bundles the PDFix SDK command-line engine (pdfix-cli 9.1.0) directly into your flow – no separate PDFix install needed. Once it’s dropped into a flow, it:

  • Processes every incoming PDF automatically, no operator required
  • Fixes tagging, structure, reading order, metadata, language, title, and bookmarks
  • Supports optional layout templates for consistent tagging on recurring document types
  • Handles encrypted PDFs when a password is configured
  • Outputs a JSON report on every job, so you can see exactly what happened
  • Routes anything it can’t fix to the Error connection with a report attached – nothing disappears silently

PDFix Make Accessible handles most of the remediation automatically, but you should still validate the output and give it a human check before treating a document as fully compliant. It removes most of the manual work it doesn’t replace the final review

How to Get PDFix Make Accessible in Switch

If you’re on Switch 25.11+, PDFix Make Accessible is a “Get it now” click and a license away from running in a live flow, straight from the Enfocus App Store. With enforcement now underway, this is the easy way to make accessibility an automated step – not a separate project.
