Release: February 2026
PDFix Marketplace releases two powerful external actions designed to automate PDF font repair and accelerate PDF/UA accessibility compliance. These Docker-based actions eliminate manual font remediation, enabling teams to process thousands of PDFs with few-click deployment.
What is PDFix Marketplace?
A growing library of external actions that extend PDFix Desktop and SDK capabilities via Docker containers. The marketplace offers AI-powered solutions for common accessibility challenges – from automatically adding alt text and table summaries to auto-tagging with different AI models, converting MathML formulas, and more.
Today, we’re releasing two new font repair actions that make PDF accessibility fixing easier and automate critical remediation tasks that previously required hours of manual work. Let’s explore how these actions solve complex font issues with simple deployment.
Introducing Two New Font Fix External Actions
The latest PDFix Marketplace release delivers two specialized external actions that tackle different aspects of PDF font problems – both critical for achieving PDF/UA and PDF/A compliance.
New Action: Font Fix (PDFix)
Docker: pdfix/font-fix-pdfix
This action specializes in fixing missing glyph Unicode mappings – a common issue where PDFs display correctly but fail when users attempt to copy text, search content, or validate for PDF/UA accessibility.
What It Fixes
Missing Unicode Mapping Recovery with OCR Recognition
- Repairs missing glyph Unicode mappings in embedded fonts
- Fixes visually correct text that fails copy/paste, search, and accessibility
- Resolves PDF/UA validation issues caused by missing Unicode data
- Tesseract OCR (default) with Easy OCR and Rapid OCR engine options
- Automatically infers missing character mappings
- Configurable fallback characters when recognition fails
Enterprise Automation Ready
- Self-contained CLI tool for automated workflows
- JSON configuration export for standardization and reuse
- CI/CD integration and batch processing support
- Docker-based—no complex local dependencies
Result: PDFs with complete Unicode mappings ready for copy/paste, search, screen readers, and PDF/UA compliance.
New Action: Fix Fonts (Callas)
Docker: pdfix/font-fix-callas
Font Fix (Callas) action delivers comprehensive font data repair using Callas preflight technology – the industry standard for PDF/A and PDF/UA validation and remediation.
What It Fixes
Complete Font Structure Repair
- Auto-embeds missing/incomplete fonts
- Intelligent font substitution
- Maintains visual fidelity + compliance
Advanced CID Font Fixes
- Repairs CIDToGIDMap mapping errors
- Corrects CMap definitions & CIDSystemInfo metadata
- Adds missing SPACE glyphs for screen readers
Glyph & Encoding Normalization
- Removes invalid glyphs
- Corrects glyph widths and metrics
- Normalizes encodings & converts to UTF-8
Result: PDFs ready for PDF/UA accessibility, PDF/A archival, and assistive technologies.
