Tag Tool is a powerful tool for validating and fixing already tagged documents. Tag tool can be activated from the main ribbon.

Activating Tag tool activate also Tag Tool Ribbon, where you have quick access to your favorite views and operations.

Tag View

The Tag Tool provides different views of the tag structure, working in conjunction with Accessibility Preferences. You can set your favorit color scheme for tag types, highlights and reading order.

  • Show all tags – shows all tags in the background based on the selected color scheme
  • Fill tags background – fills tag background with the color specified in preferences
  • Show tags reading order – shows reading order
  • Show reading order in groups – shows reading order inside the groups selected in preferences, for example order reading inside tables or lists
  • Centralize reading order mark – sets position of the reading order mark
  • Show cells that span multiple cells – highlights cells that span multiple rows or columns
  • Show cell scope – highlights TH cell scopes – row, column or both
  • Show cells with missing headers – highlights cells with missing headers to easily see table errors
  • Highlight associated headers – when TD or TH cell is selected, it shows all associated headers for the selection
  • Highlight children of associated TH – when associated header TH is selected, it shows all depending cells
  • Highlight joint Reference and Note – when a Reference is selected, the associated Note is shown, and vice versa
  • Show tag type – shows tag types
  • Show table summary – shows the table summary if exists
  • Show page content – show corresponding page content
  • Highlight move target – when moving a tag, destination tags are highlighted

With quick access to these display options through the Tag Tool Ribbon, you can easily adjust your current view based on the accessibility issues you’re working on.

Edit Tag

Click on the tag you want to edit. You can select a single tag, drag a rectangle to select tags within a specific area, or hold the CTRL key to make multiple selections.

When tags are selected, you can edit their properties in the Tag panel’s Properties window. For example, you can set an associated header for all selected TD cells.

In the Properties window, you can manually modify all tag properties and attributes for example Alternate description.

Edit Table

The Tag Tool is ideal for finalizing pre-tagged tables. You can select or multi-select table cells to change their type from Data (TD) cells to Header (TH) cells, as well as set Cell Scope, Row Span, or Col Span.

With a visual representation, you can immediately see your changes and any remaining issues.

Edit Table Headers

Using the Tag Tool, working with complex tables has never been easier. Select the cells to which you want to associate headers, then navigate to the desired header. When the header is highlighted (by default in red), right-click and simply choose Associate this Header from the menu.

The algorithm behind this actions automatically sets correct associated headers for each row and column. It also adds missing IDs if necessary.

To expedite the process, you can add a shortcut to the Associate this Header action and use it instead of the right-click menu.

Move Tag

When you need to change the position of tags or modify the existing reading order, you can easily move the selected tags.

Select the tags you want to move, then navigate to the tag after which you would like to place the selection. When the destination tag is highlighted (by default in red), right-click and choose Move after this Tag from the menu.

To expedite the process, you can add a shortcut to the Move after this Tag action and use it instead of the right-click menu.
